On the surface, it may appear that we booksellers are a rather unsavory lot, selling souls for silver. Like prize fighters, unless we make millions at our job and are the Champions, we are regarded as "knuckleheads" and are not to be trusted. But in times of tyranny, it is the bookseller who is the first to come under the thumb of the despots, for in truth, we booksellers, no matter how rich or poor, famous or infamous, are in fact, stewards to the truth. We preserve the ideas of all those who have gone before; we horde the contrary opinions for a more receptive time; and for this, we are always the first to go in revolutionary times. It is my goal to be of service to my customers; to exhibit due diligence and help them acquire the books they need; to be accountable to them; and to turn a profit for my employer. Matthew 25: 14-28
